MOTs run out, advisories stay on the record, services come due on mileage. Welkford finds it, prices it at your rates, writes the text and tracks what came back. Yours is probably bigger. Type your plates and see.
That is about £169 a car. On a 2,000-car customer list, run the maths.

A plain MOT lookup gives you a date. This gives you a job.
01
MOT history, not just the next date
Every test, every mileage reading, every advisory, from the DVSA record. Overdue and due-in-sixty-days are the start, not the product.
02
Repeat advisories
The same advisory two tests running means the record still shows it a year later — the tester wrote it up again, so nothing on the public record says it was put right. Measured across three years of DVSA results, that car is between 1.8x and 18x likelier to fail on that item at its next MOT than one never advised on it — not a certainty, and we do not claim one. 10 of the forty recorded cars have one. Top of the list, priced, ordered by what is actually likely to be booked.
03
Services due, from mileage
Odometer readings across tests give an annual mileage per car. A service interval's worth of miles since the last test is a car that is due one on mileage — the public record does not say whether it had one, which is the conversation. 9 of the forty, £1,701.
04
Tax, fuel and age, from DVLA
Tax due the same month as the MOT is one message for two jobs. EVs and hybrids flagged so the service menu is right. SORN cars drop out.
05
Possible safety recalls
Make, model and year matched against the published recall dataset. Not revenue, but a reason to ring that a customer is grateful for. Always confirm by VIN.
06
A price on each line, at your rates
Front brake pads wearing: 0.8h at £72 plus £60 parts, £118. Change the rate and every figure moves. The arithmetic stays on screen.
Then the texts go, in your name.
1
Import your customers
Export from whatever you run. Welkford maps the columns, you confirm, names and numbers attach to the plates.
2
Approve a campaign
Pick the kinds of line, read every message rendered in full, press send. Texts go in your garage's name. STOP is handled automatically and forever.
3
Work the inbox
Replies and slot requests land in one list. Book them in your own diary, mark them handled with the job value, and the dashboard shows what was recovered against what was predicted.
Hi Sam, it's Hollis Motors. Your Peugeot 308 (MJ66***) MOT ran out on 10 September. Reply YES and we'll call to book you in, or ring 01234 567890. Reply STOP to opt out.
As the customer receives it. The per-car sentence is written for you.
One plan.
£99 /month
60-day pilot. No card, nothing charged, no auto-renewal to forget about — we ask at the end, next to what it found.
The average priced line across those forty cars is £157 of invoice. Assume half of that survives as gross margin after parts and it is £79 a job, so 2 booked jobs a month cover the subscription.
The 50% is our assumption, not your figure: £99 ÷ (£157 × your margin) is the sum, and it is yours to redo.
Every vehicle on your list, enriched and re-run nightly
All seven rule types, priced at your rates, arithmetic shown

Customer import from any garage software export
SMS and email campaigns in your name, approval before every send
Inbox for replies and slot requests, opt-outs handled

Not included: a diary, job cards or invoicing. You keep yours.
10 places left.
10 garages can be on the pilot at once. One person reads every import that goes wrong and rings every garage that stalls, and 10 is what one person can do properly.
60 days, or 90 if we work it with you.
No card at any point before you decide.
The end date is on screen from your first day in the workspace.
A week of nothing-changes after it ends, and your data is never deleted or locked up — export works whatever you decide.

Questions
Do you take a card to start?
No. There is no card at signup and no card on file during the pilot, so there is nothing to auto-renew and nothing to cancel before a date. At the end of the 60 days the workspace shows what Welkford found and what you recorded as recovered, and asks whether it was worth £99 a month. If you say nothing, sending pauses a week later and your data stays where it is.
Why only 10 garages?
Because one person supports them. Every email, every import that will not parse, every garage that goes quiet in week two — one person. 10 is what that person can do properly, so the count on the page is the real one and it goes back up when a garage finishes its pilot.
Do I have to change my garage software?
No. Welkford sits alongside it. You export a customer list, you get a priced, dated list back with the messages ready, and you book the work into your own diary.
What happens to the plates I paste in?
They are used to look up the DVSA and DVLA record and build your preview, and nothing else. We ask for no names, phone numbers or email addresses. A registration can be traced back to a person, so it is personal data and we treat it that way rather than pretending otherwise. If you do not start a pilot the whole preview — plates and records — is deleted automatically 30 days after you built it, by a scheduled job, not on request.
What do you do with my customers' details?
Look up their vehicles and send the messages you approve. You are the data controller; Welkford is the processor and a processing agreement is part of signing up. Deleted when you leave.
Could I not just look this up myself?
One plate at a time, on the government website, yes. Welkford does the whole list, every night, reads the history rather than the next date, prices every line and writes the message.
Where do the prices come from?
A table of labour hours and typical parts per advisory type, multiplied by your labour rate, plus your MOT fee and service price. Deliberately conservative. Every figure shows its sum.
What if a customer says stop?
The number is suppressed immediately and permanently, and no campaign will include them again. Every message carries the opt-out line by default.
